Rosemary’s Super low-fat Burgers
Per serving: 413 cal / 10gfat
6oz (175g) bulgar wheat
12oz (350) lean minced steak
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon brown fruity sauce
½ teaspoons dried mixed herbs
Salt and freshly grounded black pepper
4 small wholemeal baps
A few lettuce leaves 2
2 tomatoes, slices
1 red onion, slices
Place the bulgar wheat in a mixing bowl and cover with boiling water. Allow to stand for 20 minutes until the grains have softened and swelled. Drain, then rinse under cold water until cold, and drain well again.
Mix together the bulgar wheat, minced steak, onion, brown sauce, herbs and seasoning until well combined. Divide the mixture into 4 and form into burger shapes, each about ½in (1cm) thick. Chill for 20 minutes.
Cook the burgers under a preheated grill or in a ridged grill pan for 5 minutes each side. Take care not to break the burgers when turning them.
Toast the wholemeal baps. Place a burger in each bap and top with lettuce, tomatoes and onion.
